Festivals in Thailand are either Buddhist, Chinese, animist, or associated with the monarchy. Chinese and Buddhist festivals are lunar and generally fall on a full moon, animist festivals Loi Krathong as Songkran or can be solar or lunar, while the public holidays falling on royal history special day as the founder of the current Chakri dynasty, and birthdays Reign of the monarchs.
