Sport fishing in Phuket at Andaman Sea

Phuket has many advantages over other destinations because its fishing waters offer many large specimens highly prized for sportfishing in Thailand. The fact that there is not yet any big international competition means that it is a place which has not yet been over-fished and had therefore taken many to be done. The Andaman Sea offers perfect conditions for sport fishing. Many species are represented: groupers, dolphins, sharks, sea bream, mahi-mahi, swordfish, tuna, barracuda, wahoo, giant tuna, yellowfin tuna, bonito, black marlin, sailfish marlin… The best season is during the rainy season in southern West (July-October), but catches can be made throughout the year.

Phuket also has a wide range of places of fisheries as fish very close to the island that Racha farthest on the Similan Islands. Many companies in Phuket town or on Patong will offer their services to go fishing at these sites. Count 5000 to 12000 baht for a boat at your disposal, as well as the captain and one or more fishing guide. Prices vary mainly depending on the distance between the location of the boat and fishing location.


A 96 kilometers northwest of Phuket are the Similan Islands, a marine national park, which consists of nine islands. Generally known as one of the best spot in the world for scuba diving, the waters surrounding the islands also offer some of the best fishing opportunities at sea The fishing techniques used are subject to a wide range of choices at both the environment and the species that inhabit them are varied.

For scuba diving many agencies or Patong on Phuket will provide the necessary equipment and lead you to the best places. To do so do not forget to bring your certificate or diploma in diving.
